Nero d'Avola is an indigenous grape variety of Sicily and is one of the most important and renowned red grape varieties on the island. This grape variety produces robust and full-bodied red wines, often characterized by an intense color, complex aromas and succulent flavors. Typical characteristics of Nero d'Avola wine include hints of ripe black fruits such as black cherries and plums, accompanied by spicy, earthy and sometimes tobacco notes. Depending on the producer's winemaking choices, Nero d'Avola can be vinified in different styles, from young, fruity wines to more complex wines with a period of aging in wood. Nero d'Avola is often appreciated for its versatility and can be paired with a variety of dishes, including red meat dishes, aged cheeses and typical Sicilian cuisine. Its production is widespread throughout Sicily, with some areas, such as the Avola region, which are particularly famous for the cultivation of this vine.
Sustainability and transparency, protection of quality and valorisation of the territory These have been the foundations of Madaudo's production philosophy for almost seventy years. “Extracting the maximum quality from the fertile lands of Sicily”, enhancing the great peculiarities of the vineyards, interpreting their characteristics and declining them through different production techniques, from steel to wood, from sparkling wine production in autoclave to refermentation in the bottle, so as to best exploit the personality of each grape variety.
