According to legend, Amarone was born in the 1930s when one of the founders of the Domini Veneti winery tasted a traditional Veronese wine, Recioto, whose sugars had fermented to such an extent that it turned into another wine, which was bitter enough to be renamed Amarone. Since that day, Domini Veneti's Amarone della Valpolicella Dogc red wine has become the winery's most representative wine. Its strong flavor makes it perfect in pairings with meat and to aged cheeses.
