Casatiello Neapolitan Sweet / Easter Pine Cone - approx. 500 g

Traditionally, casatiello is a rustic loaf typical of Neapolitan cuisine, stuffed with cured meats, cheeses and eggs. However, there is also a sweet version of casatiello, which is prepared with the same basic ingredients as the savory version, but without the addition of cured meats and cheeses. Instead, sweet ingredients such as sugar, butter, eggs and dried fruit are incorporated into the dough with natural sourdough, to create a rich and aromatic dessert, often enriched with candied fruit or chocolate chips. This sweet version of casatiello is particularly appreciated during the Easter holidays and can be served as a dessert or a delicious snack. Due to its natural leavening characteristic, grandmother said that it could be consumed until summer.
