The shallot is a plant whose bulbs resemble the onion: the only differences are in size as it is slightly smaller and more elongated than the onion. So what do we use it for? For all sautés! Shallots are indeed an excellent alternative to onions, and many prefer them for their milder flavour that does not weigh down the breath. This is definitely a good reason to try it!
